Nanxiang Incity

Nanxiang Incity is a visual signage system created for a shopping mall in Shanghai. The design draws on the local culture of Nanxiang, an area known for cranes and temples, and turns the form of cranes flying in pairs into abstract signage images. Floor guides and merchant listings are placed at escalator entrances and exits and at points where visitor flows cross. White ink blocking printing is applied to the light sheets, so text and outlines stay clear. The hanging pieces use mirror pivot points that blend with the mall interior.

Month and season information is placed at the top of each sheet. The drawings were made with computer software and printed at 800 by 800 millimeters.
